Home Ice Rink: Kinross
Years Curling: 14
Occupation: Retired after over 40 years in the Petro-Chemical Industry, most of which was with BP.
Status: Married to Michele, who is a keen Curler since I introduced her to our great sport (probably better than me …sometimes) and she is also an Umpire with Scottish Curling and WCF Umpire.

Curling Offices held:

  • Abercorn Treasurer since 2010
  • Scottish Wheelchair Competitions Convenor since 2018
  • Scottish Curling Umpire 2016-present
  • WCF Umpire 2019-present

Curling Achievements:

One of 20 tourists who went on the last organised RCCC Tour in January 2020 and helped with winning new friends; and on a side-note, were victorious after 14 days of curling in beautiful Switzerland against teams containing men, women, junior internationalists and a wheelchair team!

Why I wanted to be part of the curling tour:

I believe that touring Canada will be the highlight of all highlights of my Curling world so far. I’m looking forward to making new friends with the other 59 (or 60 if you include Mike!) tourists who will be embarking on this expedition with me. And then there will be the new Canadian friends who I am sure we will make in the 24 or so days we are there (Tourist Doug Wilson doesn’t count!)

Hobbies/Interests:

  • Watching Scotland sometimes win at rugby! Which, for an ex SFA Football Referee for over 20 years, is unusual to say the least!
  • Hillwalking
  • Gardening
  • Antique Mechanical Music Boxes
  • Curling, which I took up after my refereeing career and a spell as an SFA Referee Supervisor came to an end.
