Why I wanted to be part of the curling tour:
For all of my curling life, the Canadian Tour has been a bucket list ambition and I had always thought that at 54 years of age, 2023 would be my best opportunity in terms of affordability, fitness and ability (all questionable !!) to participate. I love the balance between the social and competitive aspects of curling and have played in most national competitions and thoroughly enjoyed the sport but particularly the camaraderie of fellow curlers that I have met over the years who I now count as lifelong friends.
I have listened to the stories of many of my curling friends who have enjoyed past Canadian Tours and their experiences have only encouraged me more to pursue the dream of curling in the country that is so passionate and active in this great game of ours. As retirement from full time work now drifts onto the horizon, I am looking for new challenges and experiences to give me ideas for the future and curling may well be something that I can become more actively involved in, in terms of its development and progression. I believe that there are many things that can be learned from experiencing curling in Canada and I would hope to be able to bring some of that home to Scotland.
Hobbies/Interests:
  • Golf – I have been a very active and keen golfer for most of my life but have not really played in the last few years since lockdown kicked in – can’t explain it but just lost the habit of playing. Something that needs to be revisited this Summer!!
