Sadly this is our last morning in Canada and so after breakfast and packing we boarded our bus and set off to the airport at 9.30am. We bade our farewells to John Shea and Dave Korin and our amazing bus driver Bob before booking our luggage onto the flight to Toronto. On arrival there we then transferred from Terminal 1.to 3 and booked our luggage onto the homeward British Airways flights. The overnight flight to Heathrow was slightly delayed but we landed at Terminal 5 early on Saturday morning and then boarded our final flight to Edinburgh which was running approximately 20 minutes late. We touched down in Edinburgh to a temperature of 8 degrees C, somewhat warmer than the minus 27 degrees plus wind chill when departing Ottowa!
We retrieved our bags which had all miraculously made it all the way from Ottowa! We then bade emotional farewell’s to our teammates and were in many cases met and welcomed home by our nearest and dearest. It was especially fantastic to be greeted by Keith Wilson complete with crutches who was looking well after his nightmare ordeal. What a truly fabulous once in a lifetime experience we have all enjoyed. It will take some time to return to normal and coming to terms with no gin for breakfast! Roll on our first reunion.
